3D game

A game that uses depth as well as width and height to create spatial visuals.

A 3D game is a game that renders scenes with width, height, and depth, creating the illusion of space and perspective. Unlike a 2D game, it must manage cameras, models, lighting, textures, physics, and often real-time networking, which makes the software stack more complex.

That complexity matters in cyber security because more moving parts create more attack surface. Game engines, asset importers, mod systems, and plug-ins can be abused to deliver malicious files, trigger memory-safety bugs, or trick players into installing unsafe cheats and add-ons. Defenders reduce risk by validating assets, sandboxing mods, signing updates, patching engines quickly, and hardening network code so malformed data cannot crash or compromise the game.
