Steganography is the practice of concealing information, such as messages or code, within ordinary files like images, audio, or documents. Unlike encryption, which scrambles data to make it unreadable, steganography hides the existence of the information itself, making it difficult for unauthorized users to detect that any secret communication is taking place. This technique is often used for covert communication, digital watermarking, or protecting sensitive data from prying eyes. In cybersecurity, steganography can be both a defensive tool and a method used by attackers to secretly transmit malicious code or data.
