Spear phishing is a targeted cyberattack where attackers send fraudulent emails or messages to specific individuals or organizations. Unlike generic phishing, spear phishing uses personalized information, such as the recipient’s name, job role, or recent activities, to make the message appear trustworthy and convincing. The goal is often to trick the victim into revealing sensitive information, clicking malicious links, or downloading harmful attachments. Because of its tailored approach, spear phishing is harder to detect and can lead to significant security breaches if successful.
