SIGINT, or Signals Intelligence, refers to the collection and analysis of electronic signals and communications to gather intelligence. This includes intercepting radio, satellite, and internet communications, as well as other forms of electronic transmissions. Governments and organizations use SIGINT to monitor potential threats, understand adversaries’ capabilities, and support cybersecurity operations. SIGINT can involve both the interception of content (such as emails or phone calls) and metadata (such as call durations or sender/receiver information). While powerful for national security and law enforcement, SIGINT raises important privacy and ethical considerations due to its intrusive nature.
