An RSA public key is a component of the RSA cryptographic algorithm, widely used for secure data transmission. It consists of a large numerical value derived from two prime numbers and is publicly shared. Anyone can use the RSA public key to encrypt data or verify digital signatures, ensuring confidentiality and authenticity. However, only the corresponding private key holder can decrypt the data or create valid signatures. This separation of keys is fundamental to public-key cryptography, enabling secure communication over insecure networks without sharing secret keys. RSA public keys are commonly used in SSL/TLS, email encryption, and digital certificates.
