Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) is a cybercrime business model in which developers create and maintain ransomware tools, then lease them to other criminals, known as affiliates. These affiliates use the rented ransomware to launch attacks on victims, encrypting their data and demanding payment for its release. In return, the developers receive a share of any ransom payments collected. This model lowers the technical barrier for launching ransomware attacks, making it easier for less-skilled criminals to participate and increasing the overall threat to organizations and individuals.
