In cybersecurity, a manifesto is a public declaration outlining the motives, intentions, or beliefs of an individual, group, or organization, often associated with hackers or hacktivist groups. Manifestos are typically published to explain the reasoning behind certain cyber activities, such as data breaches, cyberattacks, or campaigns. They may serve to justify actions, inspire others, or challenge authorities. Famous examples include The Hacker Manifesto, which articulated the philosophy of early hacker culture. Manifestos can be used to rally support, provoke discussion, or communicate grievances. While not inherently malicious, they are often linked to controversial or illegal cyber activities.
