An electrode is a conductor through which electricity enters or leaves a device, such as a battery, capacitor, or electronic component. Electrodes are essential for enabling the flow of electric current within circuits and devices. In batteries, for example, there are typically two electrodes: the anode and the cathode, which allow for the movement of electrons and the storage or release of energy. Damage or failure of electrodes can lead to device malfunction, reduced performance, or even safety hazards like short circuits or fires.
