The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is an independent European Union body that ensures the consistent application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) across all EU member states. Established in 2018, the EDPB is composed of representatives from the national data protection authorities and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). Its main tasks include issuing guidelines, recommendations, and best practices regarding data protection, as well as resolving disputes between national authorities. The EDPB also advises the European Commission on data protection matters and fosters cooperation among national authorities to protect individuals’ privacy rights throughout the EU.
