DreamEye is a digital camera accessory developed for the Sega Dreamcast console, primarily released in Japan around 2000. It connects to the Dreamcast via the controller port and allows users to capture still images or short video clips. The images can be transferred to the console, edited, and used in compatible games or sent over the internet using Dreamcast's online capabilities. While not widely adopted outside Japan, DreamEye showcased early integration of digital imaging with gaming consoles, paving the way for later camera-based gaming peripherals. Its use was mainly limited to certain games and online chat applications.
