CSRD stands for Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, a regulation introduced by the European Union to enhance and standardize corporate sustainability reporting. Effective from 2024, CSRD requires large companies and certain public-interest entities operating in the EU to disclose detailed information on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters. The directive aims to improve transparency, comparability, and accountability of sustainability data, helping investors, stakeholders, and the public make informed decisions. CSRD expands the scope and detail of reporting compared to previous regulations, such as the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD), and introduces mandatory assurance of reported information. Non-compliance may result in penalties.
