The CNEL (Consiglio Nazionale dell'Economia e del Lavoro) is Italy’s official advisory body on economic and labor issues. Established by the Italian Constitution, CNEL provides expert opinions to the government, parliament, and regional authorities on proposed laws and policies related to the economy and labor. It also manages the national archive of collective labor agreements, ensuring transparency and accessibility for workers, employers, and institutions. While CNEL does not have legislative power, its consultative role is crucial for shaping informed labor and economic policies in Italy. The council consists of representatives from trade unions, employers’ associations, and experts in economic and social matters.
