A cloud chamber is a scientific device used to visualize the paths of charged particles, such as those produced by radioactive decay or cosmic rays. It contains a supersaturated vapor, typically alcohol, within a sealed environment. When ionizing radiation passes through the chamber, it ionizes the vapor along its path. This causes the vapor to condense into tiny droplets, forming visible trails that reveal the otherwise invisible movement of subatomic particles. While not directly related to cybersecurity, understanding cloud chambers can provide historical context for the detection and study of radiation, which is sometimes relevant in the field of hardware security and electromagnetic analysis.
