Behavioral Indicators of Compromise (BIOC) are rules or patterns used in cybersecurity to detect suspicious or malicious activities based on behavior rather than known malware signatures. Unlike traditional Indicators of Compromise (IOC), which identify threats through specific artifacts like file hashes or IP addresses, BIOCs focus on how threats behave within a system or network. This approach enables the detection of new, unknown, or evolving threats that may bypass signature-based defenses. By monitoring actions such as unusual login attempts, lateral movement, or abnormal data access, BIOCs help organizations identify and respond to sophisticated attacks more effectively.
